Seller Agreement
Last updated November 2, 2026
This agreement applies to everyone who adds a vehicle or lists a part, including private sellers and salvage yards. It is part of the Terms of Use. You accept it when you add your first vehicle or listing.
1. You own what you sell
For every vehicle you add, you confirm that you own it or are authorized by its owner to sell its parts, that you have the title or other legal proof of ownership (such as a salvage certificate, junk title, bill of sale from a licensed seller, or an auction or insurance release), that the VIN you enter is the vehicle’s real VIN, and that the vehicle and its parts are not stolen, subject to a lien that forbids selling them, or under any legal hold.
Each VIN can only be parted out on the Site by one seller at a time. Attempts to add a VIN already listed by someone else are logged and reviewed.
2. Licenses and the law where you are
You are responsible for knowing and following every law that applies to you, including state laws on dismantling vehicles and selling salvage parts, title surrender, vehicle and scrap records, and recycling. Many states require a dismantler, salvage dealer or recycler license once you part out more than a few vehicles a year, and some require you to surrender the title when a vehicle is dismantled and report it to the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS). For example, Ohio licenses businesses that sell salvage motor vehicle parts (Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4738) and requires title surrender for dismantled vehicles (ORC 4505.11). We do not give legal advice. If you are not sure, ask your state motor vehicle agency or a lawyer.
Salvage yards and other businesses must enter their license number in their yard profile, and confirm it is current and covers the activity on the Site. Tell us within 10 days if a license lapses, is suspended or is revoked.
3. Documents after 3 vehicles in 12 months
If you have added 3 vehicles in the last 12 months and are not a yard with a license on file, before adding another you must upload (a) your state salvage dealer, dismantler or recycler license, once, until we approve it, and (b) the title or bill of sale for each new vehicle, showing its VIN and you as the owner or buyer. We may ask for documents at any other time, for any vehicle.
We may hold payouts, hide listings, or close accounts if documents are missing, unreadable, don’t match, or appear altered. Uploading a document does not mean we have verified it, and approval does not make us responsible for your compliance. We keep these documents as described in the Privacy Policy and may share them with law enforcement or a state agency on request.
4. Identity verification
To get paid you must verify your identity and bank account with our payment provider. If you become a high-volume seller (for example, 200 or more sales and $5,000 or more in gross revenue in a 12-month period), we may require and verify additional information, such as a tax ID, a working phone number and email, and a business address, and in some cases show certain of it to buyers, as required by the INFORM Consumers Act and similar state laws. Keep this information current.
5. Accurate listings
- List the actual item, using your own current photos of it, from the vehicle you selected.
- Describe condition honestly using our grades, and disclose every known defect, damage, missing piece, repair, prior refurbishment, and whether the part has been tested.
- Use the correct part number and interchange number if you give one. Do not claim a fit you have not confirmed.
- Show mileage as recorded on the donor vehicle. Do not alter instrument clusters or odometers to show different mileage. Federal law (49 U.S.C. §§ 32701 and following) prohibits odometer tampering.
- Say if a part is used, refurbished, remanufactured or new, and if it needs programming, coding or a core return.
- Honor the price, shipping, handling time and return policy shown when the buyer ordered.
6. Prohibited and restricted items
Do not list anything on the Prohibited and Restricted Items list. Some items, such as catalytic converters and airbag modules, cannot be listed at all, and the checklist will not let you list them. You are responsible for selling or disposing of them lawfully off the Site.
7. Shipping, pickups and hazardous materials
Ship within your stated handling time, pack parts to survive shipping, and upload tracking. You are responsible for items until they are delivered. Drain fluids and cap lines before shipping. Batteries (including lead-acid, lithium and hybrid or EV high-voltage packs), fuel components, A/C refrigerant and other hazardous materials must be shipped only as federal hazardous-materials rules and the carrier allow, or offered as local pickup only.
For local pickups, meet in a safe place, check the buyer’s pickup code in the app, and do not hand over a part without it. Do not ask for or accept cash or off-Site payment.
8. Returns, claims and refunds
You must accept returns and give refunds as described in the Buying, Returns and Disputes policy, including for items that arrive damaged, are not as described, or are the wrong part, whatever your return policy says. You can offer the buyer a partial refund to keep the part instead of returning it. If they accept, it comes off the item price, the commission is recalculated on what you keep, and payment processing isn’t refunded. If they decline, you must accept the return or ask us to review it. You have 3 business days to respond to a claim. If you do not respond, we may approve it for you. We decide disputes using the listing, photos, messages, tracking and anything else available, and our decision about funds held on the Site is final for those funds.
9. Fees, payouts and amounts you owe
Fees are described in the Terms of Use (Section 3). Refunds, chargebacks, return shipping you are responsible for, and any fines or costs we incur because of your listings are deducted from your payouts or charged to you. We may keep a reserve on your payouts if we see high claim rates, unusual activity, or a risk of loss.
10. Records
Keep records of where each vehicle and part came from (title, bill of sale, auction receipt), and of your sales, for at least 3 years or longer if your state requires. Give them to us or to a government agency on request.
11. Stolen vehicles and parts
If we have reason to think a vehicle or part is stolen, we may remove listings, hold or reverse payouts, refund buyers, preserve records, and report it to law enforcement and NMVTIS or the National Insurance Crime Bureau. You will cooperate with any investigation. If you learn that something you listed may be stolen, take it down and tell us right away.
12. Your responsibility to us
You are responsible for the items you sell and for complying with this agreement and the law, and you will indemnify us as described in Section 14 of the Terms of Use, including for claims that an item was stolen, unlicensed, defective, unsafe, misdescribed, or caused injury or property damage.
